In 2020, IONA through the ife homeland Economic committee offered assistance to the market men and women that suffered financial losses due to the fire disaster that occurred at Oja Tuntun, Ile-Ife in the later part of 2020.
The Homeland Economic Committee just introduced micro lending scheme to very small scale traders.
Disbursement of the loan is currently ongoing. Successful loan applicants have been funded and they have commenced trading with the funds. The loan scheme and recipient, performance are closely monitored, if successful, it would be rolled out large scale and investors would be invited to participate in the scheme.
The year 2021 is here, which means that our yearly medical mission to Ile-Ife, its surroundings villages and suburbs will commence in earnest. Past medical missions sponsored by IONA were very successful and we expect this coming one to be the same. The purpose of the medical mission is to provide dignified and quality healthcare to all regardless of socioeconomic status. IFE MEDICAL MISSION, 2021. Will hold in Ile-ife on the 13th and the 14th of April, 2021. While the last one will hold at Iyanfoworogi a suburb of Ile-Ife on the 15th of April. We expect the turn out to be huge.
This year, IONA will embark on drilling bore holes to provide portable water for the peoples in Ile-Ife and the immediate surroundings. Bore hole will be sunk in selected and strategic areas to reach and serve as many peoples as possible.The first borehole was completed and commissioned for use in Ogbingbin area of Ife in May 2020.The aim is to prevent water borne diseases like typhoid fever, guinea worms, dysentery etc. among our peoples.
