Before now, there was a national body in existence since the late 1990s but this body disintegrated in the year 2003. Since then, all attempts to reconstitute another national body were not successful. The organizing committee of the event hosted by the New Jersey Chapter headed by Chief Bunmi Awopileda was mandated to steer the organization’s ship and make it viable before conducting an election to elect officers that would run the organization smoothly. The interim committee achieved its objectives by laying a good foundation and completed the first national convention hosted by the Chicago Chapter from August 24th to August 26th, 2018.
At this convention, a new executive was elected and sworn in to run the association’s affairs for two years. Mr. Michael Ojo heads this executive committee; the Vice President is Rev. Yinka Egbewole. Barrister Ayo Badejo was elected as the Secretary of the organization. Mr. Gbenga Omisore was elected as the Asst. Gen. Secretary Mrs. Janet Olabode was elected as the Treasurer; Oba Adetayo Oladele was elected as the Financial Secretary; Prince Ajibade Olowoporoku was elected as the Publicity Secretary. Mr. Dapo Rotifa was elected as the Chief Whip while Barrister Sola Oyeyemi was elected as the Legal Adviser and Chief Debo Omisore the Chief liaison officer.
The association officially adopted its constitution and Bye-Laws at this convention.
We chose Atlanta to host the association’s next convention in summer 2020. The association is officially registered and has the status of a 501c entity, which allows federal tax exemption as a non for profit organization.
